PKL Season 11: Pawan Sehrawat Retention for Telugu Titans

Pawan Sehrawat, The Hi-Flyer is one of the most talented players in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). His notable skills, achievements, and impact on the game make him outstanding player. His ability to move over his defender’s shoulder and make a quick exit with a lion jump gave him his nickname “hi-flyer.”

Pawan Sehrawat’s primary Seasons

  • Pawan made his debut with the Bengaluru Bulls during the third season of the PKL. He played 13 games that season and finished with 45 raid points. His agility, speed, and ability to trick opponents made him a promising prospect.
  • Returning to the Bulls for season six, Pawan shined brightly. He scored 282 points, including 13 Super 10, and helped the Bengaluru Bulls win their first title. His performance won him the title of league MVP.
  • In season 7, Pawan continued to dominate, finishing as the league’s leading scorer with 353 points. Notably, he scored 39 raid points in a single game against the Haryana Steelers, breaking the previous record.

His Injury and later his Comeback
Despite a knee injury in his eighth season, Pawan remained a prized commodity. The Tamil Thalaivas signed him for INR 2.26 crores, making him the most expensive player in PKL history. Unfortunately, that season was cut short due to an injury.

He returned in the Season 10 player auction and became the most expensive player in league history when the Telugu Titans paid INR 2.60 crore for him.

PKL-10 Performance
The Telugu Titans faced a difficult season in PKL 10. Even after Sehrawat’s individual performance, their overall performance was not up to the mark.

Pawan Sehrawat, captain of the Telugu Titans Team and star raider, did well in raiding. He scored an brilliant 202 raid points, including 13 Super 10s and 5 Super Raids.
His skill and ability to trick opponents was unparalleled. However, his brilliance alone could not improve the team’s outcomes.

Challenges for the team

The Titans lacked a supporting raider to balance Sehrawat’s flaws. Their overdependence on him became obvious. Their defence was also weak, which was leaking the most points for opponents. Their season was terrible as there were only two victories in 22 matches.

The Decision for his retention
The Titans’ management faces a critical decision:

If they retain Sehrawat: This ensures a star raider and can also build a strong team around talented and experienced captain.
If they let him go: This frees up huge finances for a possible rebuild, but they must locate a suitable replacement.

If Pawan leaves, there would be a loss, the Titans may see it as an opportunity for a new beginning. What they might consider is:

  • Players like Prafull Zaware and Robin Chaudhary showed potential in PKL 10.
  • In addition to clever auction purchases, the squad might focus on developing these young players.
  • The Titans require skilled raiders need to show their talent. It is critical that they strengthen their defence with a help of experienced defenders and young players.

Their decision on Pawan Sehrawat would set the tone of PKL 11 campaign for Telugu Titans.
